Puppy Love & Cats Too Photo Party #5: Jack's Version

I am linking up today with Blake and Becky over at Reinventing the Ordinary.  Since last month Jessi stole the show (at least in her own mind), I thought it only fair that I give Jack the floor this month.  He may not be as polished as Jessi, but he is going to give it everything he has so please bare with him and remember....he IS a cat.

Reinventing the Ordinary

First off - Jessi, polished?  I beg to differ.  Apparently, her petite frame and what I guess could be called a cute face has everyone fooled.  Just in the past week I have witnessed her in some less than ladylike behavior.  My mom was soaking her smoothie container the other night and even though we have an awesome flowing fountain she thought that the soaking container with the strange smoothie debris was much more appetizing...seriously, that is just gross!  She also sometimes prefers water out of a glass as opposed to said fabulous fountain just for us, which kind of causes mom to dump the glass.

And let's not forget that she is a little beggar.  OK, so granted the human should probably not be eating his breakfast on the kitchen counter, but really Jessi should not be trying her darndest to eat his breakfast of champions...I mean really, how uncivilized!

I have never claimed to be all that and a bag of catnip, but this girl has got everyone fooled.  And let's not forget that she has turned my humble abode upside down.  Do I chase her and give her a few good bites on a daily basis?  You know it...I have to keep reminding her who is boss.  So what if I have a good 3-4 pounds on her...I am the man of the house after all.  I wouldn't want her to think that swinging her tail and batting her little eyes is going to get her anywhere as far as I am concerned...hmpht!!!!  I am starting to think that she is purposely provoking me though....she scoots most of herself under the bed but leaves her tail swishing back and forth knowing full well that I can't resist the urge to bat at it....WOMEN!!!!!
Honestly, sometimes I long for the days when I was the only cat here.  Things were so much simpler then, I could spend my days lying on my form  fitting styrofoam without a care in the world...those were the days!

But then I think about this totally awesome personalized mat that we won last month from Blake and his mom....and I shudder to think of it around here without her.

You caught me...I said it.  Although, she frequently drives me half out of my mind...I love her and am afraid that I would be lost without her prissy little self runing around here with me.  THE TRUTH IS OUT!  But seriously...check out our awesome new washable "food mat", pictured above.  That mat is in fact rockin both of our names, but I for some reason feel compelled to plop my rear down on mine.  We have so far preferred to use it as a lounge and scratching mat.  It is made of materials very closely resembling our scratch post so it is hard to keep us off of it.
Well, that's it from here...I think next month we will hand this back over to our mom.  I think we have both said our peace.
Thank you so much for stopping by and if you have some fabulous fur babies at homes, be sure to link up  with Blake and Becky...it is so much fun!

Jessi's Take on Puppy Love & Cats Too Photo Party Link Up

In case you guys hadn't noticed, my mom has been super swamped the last week or so....the to-do list has been growing and growing and not much has been crossed off.  That makes her cranky and I believe a bit overwhelmed.  Even though I have only participated once, Jack and I love this monthy link up with Mrs. Becky over at Reinventing the Ordinary

linkup 175

When mom missed the first link up day on Monday, she pretty much gave up and said that we would get back on track next month.  Lets face it blog peeps, this is our one guaranteed time each month to shine and I was not going to let it pass us by. So, without further ado, I am highjacking mom's blog for one measley post.

Hi!  I'm Jessi aka BG - that stands for Baby Girl
Things are finally settling down a bit since my arrival.  Jack still chases me (a lot) and bites the heck out of me, but I am holding my own.  The hissing has been reduced to a minimum and we are no longer separated during the day when mom and Zach are gone.  We are now down to a one litter box household although it is a pretty big box.  Both of our bowls are on the same mat (but we sure wouldn't mind winning a new one!) now and we are eagerly awaiting our fountain which should be here any day now!

Look mom...one mat!
Mom wants us to be best friends, but I am just not sure that is ever going to happen.

Jack's favorite toys are these crazy plastic balls with jingle bells inside decorated with streamers and feathers.  Honestly, they give me a headache and I cannot imagine what he sees in them.  I on the other hand, prefer small soft toys infused with designer cat nip...designed for the more discriminating feline.  Sometimes, I wonder if he was raised in a barn...hhmmpff!  Although I came from the streets, I am adapting quite nicely to my mostly indoor existence with my occasional visit to the very roomy patio - even withstanding the extreme Texas heat lately.

Lounging in the 100 degree heat
All in all, life is good.....could my brother  be a bit nicer...you betcha.  But things could always be worse, so I am riding this Purina train for all that it is worth.  Mom and Zach more than make up for the pain that is my brother Jack!  I love my people!!!

Jack being silly
Thanks so much for dropping by and reading my post....what if this makes me FAMOUS?!?!  Please don't forget to stop over and say hello to Mrs. Becky at Reinventing the Ordinary and all the other puppies and cats that are linking up.  Until next month......

Puppy Photo Party & Cats #3

It is the last Monday of the month (how can that POSSIBLY be) and you know what that means.....

Photobucket

Yep, I am linking up with Becky @ Reinventing the Ordinary for the third monthly Puppy Photo Party & Cats.  There are a few of us representin' with our felines and this month, I am adding one more to the mix.  We have added four paws to our already bitty apartment.  I would love to say that it has been a smooth, breezy transition....however, adding a new cat to the mix is tricky at best.  There is definitely a power struggle going on and not from who you would expect.  Without further delay, here is our new addition...meet Jessi...

Jessi in my parent's yard before we brought her home

Around my place, the cats seem to have a bit of zen
Wanted to show her unusual markings

Don't let her petite size and sweet little face fool you, this little girl is a pistol!  She is letting Jack know, in no uncertain terms, who is boss.  Much to my surprise, Jack is really trying to make friends.  Unfortunately, she has turned hissing into an art form and is having no part of making nice.  It has barely been a week, so I am definitely not giving up....I have very high hopes for this friendship!  Jessi is another one of my parent's finds.  I tell you, there must be some secret feline word of mouth because the cats in trouble FREQUENTLY find my parents.  Zach and I have been the recipients of the last two.  It has been on my mind lately to find a friend for Jack...I had hoped that it would be good for him and might calm him down a bit, but I guess that still remains to be seen.  Anyway, I can't leave Jack out of this post....he has truly been a trooper the last week and my fingers are crossed that this union turns into a good thing in the near future.  I would defnitely love to have them together in a photo eventually!\

Jack loves the metal base of this coffee table...he is not above chewing on it like a puppy...what the what???

Playing dead...it isn't just for possums

No craft project is complete without a bit of help from the man

That's it for today from the crazy cat lady (easy people, that IS a joke) but don't forget to drop by Reinventing the Ordinary and give Becky a little shout out, or better yet show your furbabies some blog love and link up!!!!

Puppy Photo Party & CATS

Happy Memorial Day!  Sometime today during your cook outs, lake parties or chillin' by the pool (or scrapbooking), take a few minutes to remember what today is all about and be thankful for those that that sacrificed, and continue to sacrifice so that we can enjoy our freedom.
Not only is it Memorial Day, but it is also the last Monday of the month and that means it is time for this super fun link up:

Becky at Reinventing the Ordinary was more than kind last month when my family went through the heartbreak of having to part with sweet Haley. Just further goes to prove that people with compassion for animals are the best - thank you again, Becky for your concern and kind words.  They truly meant the world!

OK, so my household only falls into the "& cats" portion of this link-up, but we are representing loud and proud.  I have been doing  a lot of talking to this guy about how important it is for him to cooperate during the picture taking.  In typical Jack fashion for every one great shot I got, there were at least 10 that were immediatley deleted from my phone.  Here is our favorite beyond fiesty feline Jack in all his glory.....Enjoy!!!!!  Captions provided by Jack.......

I really LOVE shoes!!!  See that big slobber spot?  Maybe in another life I was a puppy???

Although I tend to be a bit high strung, I balance it out with daily meditation.  I am all about the ZEN!

Mom says this is the money shot - as in "I'm too sexy for my fur!!!!!"  It's hard but somebody has to do it!

Thanks again to Becky for hosting this fun link up!  Head over to Reinventing the Ordinary to see who else linked up and don't forget to check out her precious Yorkie Blake - he may be small, but his personality is HUGE!!  All my photos enhanced using Instagram for Android.....LOVE THAT APP!!!!  Enjoy the rest of your  holiday weekend...I am off to scrap!

Puppy Love (& Cats) Photo Party and a Weekend Recap

It’s Monday, Peeps!  Had a pretty low key weekend, but spent it with my sweet boy, so no complaints from me.  Friday after school, he got an awesome haircut.  He much prefers the ultra shaggy look, but I can only handle it for so long before I am going nuts!

Showing off the new do....much to his chagrin
Saturday started with soccer pictures and a game.  They tied 2-2, but all in all it has been a good season so far.  Zachary is taking the summer off, but will start back playing in the fall with his dad coaching.  We saw The Hunger Games again, this time in IMAX.  I must have nodded off a few times during the first one (it was the middle of the night after all), cause I caught all kind of things the second time around and I still LOVE it!  Yesterday was quiet – the normal weekend stuff….grocery, laundry and some scrapping.  Here is another peek….

I am participating in a fun link up with Becky over at Reinventing the Ordinary.  She is hosting Puppy Love (& Cats) Photo Party.

So far it has been all about the pups, but you know me throwing a curve ball into the mix.  This guy is not a fan of the camera (which is not a great combination with me), so when I get a good one I more than eager to share!

He looks SOOOO innocent doesn't he?

Jackson (Jack for short) is our little feline hell on wheels.  He has more spunk than any cat should be allowed to have and his personality is quirky to say the least.  Never fear, he does have his super sweet moments, and let’s not ignore the fact that he is a really pretty cat….otherwise I may just have shipped him to a farm by now to be a killer barn cat….you think I’m kidding.  OK, you caught me…I am.  It would break Zach’s heart (even thought he seems to get the brunt of Jack’s naughtiness), and I have to be honest – I would miss the little jerk guy more than I care to admit.  My parent’s rescued Jack and got him neutered….and as they say…the rest is history.  Why didn’t they keep him, you ask?  They already had four at the time.  He has been living with Zach and I since Thanksgiving day 2010.

Although, sweet little Haley is not actually mine, I didn’t want to leave her out.  I guess you could call her my Fur Sister.  Haley is a rescue dog and has been with my parents since this past Thursday.

So far, she seems like a very sweet girl.  She is 18 months old and is a pit/lab mix.  Maybe for next month’s link up, I will have more to report on Haley but for now you can once again enjoy her “Glamour Shot”.  Not sure what you guys think, but I am pretty sure that pit bull and tutu should NEVER appear in the same sentence (or photo for that matter).

For those of you with fur babies of the canine or feline variety, head over to the Puppy Love (& Cats) Photo Party and link yourself up!!!  Happy Monday!
